WASC Accredited and  WCEA Certified

St. Jude Mission School received their WASC Accreditation and WCEA Certification.

At the recent Grand Opening ceremony and dedication of the Anna McCarten Library located at St. Jude School, the founder, Sr. Marianna Torrano, RSCJ was presented with a plaque in appreciation for her dedication to the children on the Soboba Reservation and for starting the school.   In the year 2002, The BIA and IRS approved the school as a non-profit entity, to serve students in grades kindergarten through five.  After losing the school to fire in 2003, Sister Marianna became the catalyist for the building and rebuilding of the school on its present site behind the St. Joseph Catholic Church, the school opened in the year 2004 with a principal and two teachers.

The WASC accreditation is for students in grades 1 through 5.  Pre-school and kindergarten is offered on the reservation and grades 6-12 are offered at NOLI School which is located on the reservation.

The library will also have a computer lab.  The Computer Lab has four computers, two printers and a scanner and is opened to the students on Fridays.   Sr. Marianna was very pleased with the library and spent part of the time talking to the student and sharing the reason the library was dedicated to Mrs. McCarten.  In starting the school Sr. Marianna says, “Our goal is to provide quality education in a loving and caring atmosphere whereby students will develop an appreciation for their Indian heritage and culture in order to help them reach their full potential.”
